Ahead of the 4th meeting of the European Labour Authority Forum on the posting of workers to be held on 22 October 2024, we co-signed a statement with BusinessEurope, FIEC EU , Ceemet - European Tech & Industry Employers and ECEG - European Chemical Employers Group to share our views on the European Commission’s report on the implementation of the #PostingDirective. While we agree with the report’s conclusion that there is no need to propose amendments to the current legislation, it is, however, concerning to observe that companies are still facing many problems and bureaucratic burdens when posting employees to other Member States. Rather than introducing new rules, we believe the focus should be on #enforcing the existing regulations. Learn more about our positions and recommendations: https://lnkd.in/epaZpuGe

From the Members of the European Parliament and our trade union counterparts UNI Europa to our fellow employers' representatives of BusinessEurope and the highest spheres of the European Commission, we have had many opportunities this week to discuss our vision for labour markets in #Europe. Our President, Sonja van Lieshout, sums up the five key elements that we believe are still missing to enable the #EU's future preparedness and prosperity. #Competitiveness is unthinkable without diverse forms of work, skills for the digital and green transitions, effective partnerships between public and private employment services and inclusive labour markets.
This week, alongside other World Employment Confederation-Europe members, I had the opportunity to interact with several EU stakeholders amongst others European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and BusinessEurope. The simple, but critical, question we had for them was: what work do we want?

The European Labour Authority is an important institution to ensure fair and effective labour mobility across the EU. This thematic review workshop aims to share insights and experiences regarding undeclared work on digital labour platforms. Fair competition is essential and regulation should not be circumvented. The #HRservices industry is firmly advocating for a level-playing field. Read more: https://lnkd.in/edCEQfkj

We recently had a great opportunity to engage with the Members of the European Parliament as they entered the #EU arena for a fresh mandate. The event took place a few hours after the Commissioners-designated received their mission letters so there was plenty to talk about! As our President Sonja van Lieshout points out in the video from the event, one of the major challenges on the #employment front will be #skilling Europeans to ensure that no one is left behind because of the #digital & #green transitions as well as because of the rapid changes in the world of work. Tackling this challenge is essential to build inclusive & resilient labour markets and to ensure Europe's #competitiveness - two of the major goals underlined by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. https://lnkd.in/e9TZZP3u
