#Mining: The state department to acquire Boungou and Wahgnion Mines. The Minister of the Economy and Finance, Dr Aboubakar NACANABO, and representatives of the mining companies, Lilium mining and Endeavour mining, signed agreements this Monday, August 26, 2024. These agreements put an end to the dispute between the two mining companies concerning the transaction on the Boungou and Wahgnion mines, and enable the State of Burkina Faso to acquire the said mines. The first agreement signed between the Burkinabe government and Endeavour mining covers three agreements: a royalty agreement, a transactional agreement and a payment agreement. With the mining company Lilium mining and its partner Vista Bank, it concerns the transfer of shares and units. For the Minister of the Economy and Finance, this is a transfer for valuable consideration. The State of Burkina Faso, he said, must pay sixty (60) million dollars, plus royalties on production of 400,000 ounces, i.e. a total of around 90 million dollars to acquire the Boungou and Wahgnion mines. Dr. Aboubakar NACANABO reassured workers at the two mines that the State would take all necessary steps to ensure continued operation, while maintaining the highest standards of quality. The Minister of Economy and Finance, who was assisted by his colleague in charge of mines, Yacouba Zabré GOUBA, and the Minister Delegate in charge of the Budget, Fatoumata BAKO/TRAORE, emphasized that the State of Burkina Faso has decided to get involved in the management of its natural resources. According to him, the acquisition of the two mines will enable the State to strengthen its capacities in terms of natural resource management. He also indicated that the Burkinabe state will work to exploit other mines, to further strengthen its financial situation and ensure that the mines benefit the population. 𝐃𝐂𝐑𝐏/𝐌𝐄𝐅
