Wind power 🌬 is 20% of Europe's electricity consumption. The #EU aims to reach 35% by 2030, and by 2050, more than half. 📌 This is the key message from the conference organized by the Faculty of Economics of #TheUniversityofSofia, dedicated to the EU Strategic Energy Technology Program. ☀ Wind energy is cheap. And the more we have it, the less energy we will have to import - was the main conclusion of the participants' speeches. In addition, the turbines in European wind farms are manufactured on the Old Continent, and this makes wind energy a strategic industry. It enhances our energy and national security. By 2030, wind energy 🌻 is expected to provide 500 000 jobs 🧢 in Europe, compared with 300 000 today, save us 190 billion cubic meters of fossil fuel imports each year 💰 , reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 262 million tons and contribute EUR 49 billion to EU GDP. To ensure this, the European wind industry is calling on the EU to: ✔ Expand investment in electricity networks - with better top-down planning and more private financing, leveraged by the European Investment Bank. ✔ Speed up the granting of permits for renewable energy construction, shortening approval and permitting timescales by offering a digital service to businesses.   ✔ Support the electrification of heavy industry - steel, cement and chemical industries are involved in the construction of wind turbines and are central to the economy. These sectors should be supported to decarbonize - with funding, flexible state aid and an electrification plan aiming for 35% of their electricity mix to be green by 2030 (up from 23% today).  ✔ Use all existing EU tools to ensure fair competition in the wind turbine market. Set clear minimum standards for cyber and data security, responsible business conduct and supply chain resilience.   ✔ Innovation must help industry to scale up.  ⚜ Our company #EvklipsEnergy ⚜ has 3 wind turbines, its own investment in Bulgaria. How is your summer 🔅? Our seems great ⛱️, busy and full of opportunities 🤝. As you know, #EvklipsEnergy is an integrator of solar parks in EU, but also we are acting as an investor in Bulgaria, having four own PV parks. And we are facing business challenges in both segments of the market. So, let’s talk about #PPAs. What is #PPA and how shall we benefit from it? 👇 A power purchase agreement (PPA) is a contract between energy buyers (often called “offtakers”)  and sellers (also popular as “generators”, “asset owners” or “investors”) . PPAs are usually signed for a long-term period between 10-20 years. They offer benefits for both sides, preventing the yo-yo effects of the energy markets: ✔️ The asset owner receives a stable and predictable price for the energy that he has already generated or will produce in future ✔️ energy buyer assures fixed long-term and will be able to manage the energy risk for his business. Apart, the company (indirectly) funds renewables and receives “green attributes”, such as #RenewableEnergyCertificates, useful for its #ESG compliance. Power Purchase Agreement contracts come in many forms. You may have already heard of physical and virtual PPAs. As a matter of fact, there are other forms too. But for this introduction, we’ll focus on these two. ✔️ Physical PPAs refer to the purchase of energy at the meter point (or the point of production). Typically, a utility supplies the energy to its many customers through the existing transmission lines. A Physical PPA customer receives the physical delivery of (or title to) the energy through the grid. ✔️ A financial PPA, (called also “virtual PPA” and “synthetic PPA”) allows a company to buy renewable energy virtually. There is no need to own the title of physical energy. This enables companies to focus on their “green impact”, such as corporates, to receive renewable attributes without owning the asset. These “green” additionalities allow a credit link between the purchaser and the renewable asset owner. A virtual PPA will not impact the source of energy consumed by the purchasing company. #EvklipsEbergy #solarparks #solarparksmenegement
