Our reforestation initiative in the Amazon — highlighted by the French news agency AFP and featured in France24, La Nacion, UOL, and other outlets — is about more than just planting trees. It’s about redefining how carbon markets operate. Last December, the AFP team visited our farm in Mãe do Rio and witnessed our operations firsthand. “We want to simulate nature to build a resilient forest,” said our Head of technology extension at Mombak, biologist Severino Ribeiro Pinto. At Mombak, we’re driving meaningful progress in climate action and biodiversity conservation. On the eve of the G20, our CEO, Peter Fernandez (pictured in white shirt), had the privilege of meeting President Joe Biden, who arrived in Manaus for a historic visit to the Amazon rainforest. Among other things, the Administration announced that the US Development Finance Corporation intends to provide a $37.5M loan to Mombak to support its large-scale native, biodiverse reforestation projects. The visit underscores the global importance of preserving and restoring the rainforest. It also brings attention to Mombak's work, which removes carbon from the atmosphere, increases biodiversity, and creates high-quality jobs and socioeconomic development.
