She has spent many years in investment banking and she also spoke about her experience in Group Three, a family business, she supports and Alpha Reign. Taolo advised female entrepreneurs to be kind to themselves during difficulties and them as learning curves. In a crowd full of women, she mentioned how establishing a women’s club and seeking out support from other women is important. She also spoke about the importance of having mentors, whether it be male or female, to guide them through their career journey. Taolo’s, vision is to impact over 1000 SME’s, 50 million lives, and create 5 to 10 million jobs in the next 10-15 years through Alpha Reign in her personal capacity. This morning, De Beers Group in partnership with Debswana Diamond Company sent off Team Botswana at a special ceremony as they jet off for the World Athletics Junior Championships taking place in Lima, Peru from 27th to 31st August 2024. "Botswana is a nation rich in resources, not only beneath the earth but also in the talent and potential that flourishes above it. You, our young athletes, are shining examples of this potential, and you carry with you the hopes and pride of an entire nation. As you compete in Peru, you do so not just for yourselves, but for every young person in Botswana who dares to dream big and work hard to turn those dreams into reality. We know that you will represent Botswana with honor, grace, and tenacity. May you compete with courage, embrace every challenge, and, above all, enjoy this extraordinary experience." - Tumie Ramsden, External Communications Manager, DBGSS. Shining a light on the Shining Light Awards! For 27 years, De Beers Group has held a prestigious jewellery design competition. And the new round - Luxury Redefined - is open now! Entries close at the end of this week. We’re looking for the best young designers with the biggest dreams, from Botswana, Canada, Namibia and South Africa. We want to support your career and champion your talent! Submit designs for 3 pieces of diamond jewellery. If you win, De Beers will produce them, photograph them, display them and help you market them. 𝐀 𝐫𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐧 𝐲𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐚𝐲’𝐬 "𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐀𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭" 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬! Hosted by De Beers Group and the Stanford Seed Transformation Network in partnership with Stanbic Bank Botswana Acceler8 Incubator, the event featured insights from Managing Director of Arona Natural Foods, Mr. Fannie Gwizi, on the theme of the day, "Bake, Press, and Export: The Global Bakery Blueprint." Mr. Gwizi shared the benefits of cold-pressed cooking oil and highlighted their commitment to sourcing raw materials from local farmers, thus empowering the community. He emphasized the importance of employing financial experts and skilled professionals throughout the business, from the onset to scale up operations effectively. Gwizi candidly discussed access to funding, stating, "There's nothing wrong with debt, the problem is our attitude to that debt," sharing how debt enabled Arona Foods to buy machinery that doubled its manufacturing output. He addressed the impact of border closures which enabled Arona Foods' strategic supply to the Woolworths Group, encouraging the audience to take a proactive approach to understanding and leveraging government policies before critiquing them. Gwizi also reflected on the growth from managing 8 to 140 employees, underscoring the transformative power of shared prayer in building teamwork and cohesion. Looking ahead, his vision is to see locally produced products sold across SADC and to ensure that every single Motswana buys their products. During the Q&A session, he emphasized the importance of internships in building skill sets and loyalty from early on. We are committed to continually having these monthly sessions to ensure business owners learn from industry experts and gain valuable insights. #DeBeersBotswana #StanfordSeed #StanbicBankBotswana
