Diamond Trading Company Botswana (DTC Botswana) is a 50/50 Joint Venture partnership between the Government of the Republic of Botswana and De Beers Group. It is the world’s largest and most sophisticated rough diamond sorting and valuing operation, with a capacity to sort up to 45 million carats a year. DTC Botswana sorts and values Debswana Diamond Company’s rough diamond production. Debswana Diamond Company (Pty) Ltd is a 50/50 Joint Venture partnership between the Government of the Republic of Botswana and De Beers Group. The main purpose of the company is to mine and recover diamonds optimally and responsibly. DTC Botswana aims to facilitate, drive and support the creation of a vibrant, sustainable and profitable downstream diamond industry in Botswana through superior sorting and valuing practices. The downstream activities will add additional value to the local diamond industry through cutting & polishing of diamonds and ultimately manufacturing of jewellery which will develop core competencies for adding higher value

  • AN INSPIRING VISIT TO DTC BOTSWANA BY LETSILE TEBOGO Today was an extraordinary day as DTC Botswana welcomed Letsile Tebogo, Botswana's exceptional 200m gold medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games, and his coach Mr. Kebonyemodisa Dose Mosimanyana, along with representatives of the Botswana National Olympics Committee. The visit was an opportunity for Letsile and the delegation to gain insights into DTC Botswana and its significant contributions to Botswana and the diamond industry. DTC Botswana employees also had the opportunity of engaging with the gold medalist, fostering an inspiring exchange of experiences and ideas. DTC Botswana recently participated in the 2024 Olympic Athletes Appreciation Ceremony with De Beers Global Sightholder Sales and Debswana Diamond Company, where a total of P1,080,000 was awarded to all the athletes and coaches as a tribute to their outstanding accomplishments at the recent Olympic Games. Following this empowering visit, Letsile and his coach embarked on their journey from Botswana to compete in the upcoming Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland, where Letsile will showcase his talent in the 200m men's race on the 22nd August 2024. This visit is a momentous occasion for both DTC Botswana and the Republic of Botswana. It offers a unique opportunity to strengthen diplomatic ties and explore potential areas of cooperation between Botswana and the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, bringing substantial benefits to both nations. Welcoming Her Excellency and her entourage, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Minerals and Energy, Mr. Pelaelo Khowe, highlighted that the visit provides a platform for deeper discussions regarding potential collaborations in the minerals and energy sector, emphasizing the commitment to sustainable development and responsible natural resource management.   • GABORONE UNITED CROWNED 2024 DTC BOTSWANA WOMEN’S FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS Gaborone United FC has been crowned the 2024 DTC Botswana Women’s Football Championship winners after defeating Tawana Top Girls FC,who walked out as the 2nd runner ups.Gaborone United has been awarded a whooping P250,000 cash prize,and a trophy while Tawana Top Girls was awarded P150 000. Granada FC from the Eastern Block secured the 3rd runner up position and walked away with P100,000 whilst Makgabz City FC pocketed P50 000 as the 4th runner ups.
