We care about our communities. With the electrification of the mine, around 500 people now have access to electricity through a prepaid system. As an extended part of our social investment drive the Kgotla and the clinic were also electrified, making the day-to-day running of these essential services much easier and more efficient. We also provide free wi-fi access to the Medie Primary School, the clinic, and the Kgotla, and support the school, as well as others in the area. The community uses the community hall, built by Minergy, for social and other events. #coal #coalindustry #ESG #sustainability #Botswana #communities

At Minergy, the environment is important to us. We have a continuous and ongoing rehabilitation programme at Masama that uses waste material from mining to rehabilitate the areas that have been mined out, and trees have been planted around the administration offices and in front of the entrance to the mine. In vegetated areas, seeds are spread before the rainy season to encourage the growth of indigenous grasses. #coal #coalindustry #ESG #sustainability #Botswana

Thank you to everyone who participated in our recent poll - the feedback indicates a high level of interest in our coal products. We are pleased to say that what sets Minergy apart is the consistent quality and size of coal, which has a low ash and sulphur content. We currently export coal to Europe, Asia as well as other parts of the world, and sell coal locally in Botswana as well as Southern Africa. From a community health perspective, air quality is paramount, and we continue to enhance our dust suppression activities, with dust suppression stations within the mine parameters, near the mine, within the villages of Medie and Lentsweletau, and along the Medie/Lentsweletau road. To enhance community safety, we have installed additional speedbumps to slow down traffic and reduce dust. Minergy-appointed traffic controllers also provide incoming drivers with guidelines on travel in and out of the mine and through and between villages. #coal #coalindustry #healthandsafety #sustainability #Botswana

At Minergy, safety briefings are part of our “DNA” – we regularly have health and safety briefings and also reach out to the people in the villages of Lentsweletau and Medie to ensure that these communities are aware of any potential safety issues. #coal #coalindustry #healthandsafety #sustainability #Botswana

The Minergy Coal team was proud to participate in the inspiring Business Round Table that took place between the Mozambican and Botswanan private sectors recently. The event coincided with an official visit to Mozambique by the President of Botswana, His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi. The platform served to communicate bilateral commercial relations between the two countries, which, in the last two years, has recorded notable growth, having reached a commercial value of around US$ 58 million in 2023 compared to around US$ 8 million in 2021. In 2023, Botswana exported goods worth around US$ 4.98 million to Mozambique including plastic products, beef, veterinary medicines, cigarettes, and coal. In turn, Mozambique's exports to Botswana reached around US$ 78.7 million, with the main exports being organic oil, electrical energy, aluminum wires, cotton, and thread. The Round Table focused on concrete investment projects that could boost the economies of both countries based on the principle of mutual gain, and considering the enormous impact that could be created at the southern African level, with both eager to consolidate the process of ongoing regional integration. Mozambique and Botswana are members of the Southern African Development Community (SADC Secretariat), with preferential access to one of the most promising markets in Africa, which represents excellent business opportunities for investors from both countries, taking into account that the region is also very rich in natural resources, including coal. Amongst the places we visited were MozPark, an industrial park in Maputo, and the Maputo Port. In some of the photos, the Minergy Coal team can be seen with the Maputo Port team and delegates from the Botswana Investment and Trade Centre. #coalindustry #Botwana #opportunities
