Following the resounding success of the Africa Youth Table Tennis Championships held in Gaborone from July 15-21, 2024, Okavango Diamond Company is proud to have once again joined forces with the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA). Today, we participated in the official handover ceremony in Mabeleapodi, Serowe, to celebrate one of the Association’s Sustainability Legacy Project initiatives. This initiative is a powerful reflection of the shared values between ODC and BTTA in promoting environmental stewardship within the sports community. A cornerstone of this legacy project is the Mabeleapodi Orchard, where BTTA has constructed an innovative irrigation system to support tree growth. These trees will provide a sustainable source of wood for table tennis racket production, ensuring the sport remains environmentally conscious and self-sufficient. At the ceremony, our Managing Director, Mmetla Masire, emphasized the significance of such initiatives in aligning sports with broader environmental goals: “Our collaboration with BTTA not only reflects our dedication to the development of table tennis in Botswana but also our unwavering commitment to sustainability. The Mabeleapodi Orchard is a shining example of how we can integrate eco-friendly practices into every facet of our operations, ensuring a greener future for generations to come.” This handover marks a significant milestone in our partnership with BTTA, reinforcing our shared mission to foster sustainable growth within the community while promoting the sport of table tennis.

We are happy to announce a significant milestone in our journey at Okavango Diamond Company. We have partnered with the K.K. Motshidisi Foundation to bring positive change to the heart of our communities. As a cornerstone of Botswana’s diamond industry, our commitment extends beyond marketing natural diamonds, we are dedicated to uplifting local communities and enhancing livelihoods. The rising concern of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) in Botswana is one that we take to heart. These health challenges affect people across all walks of life, and we commend the K.K. Motshidisi Foundation for their unwavering dedication to addressing this issue. Their efforts in raising awareness, providing testing, and promoting healthier lifestyles are truly inspiring. As passionate cyclists, our Board member Mr Michael Mogopa and Managing Director Mr Mmetla Masire are excited to be part of this initiative. This partnership is not just about a sponsorship; it’s about making a tangible difference. That’s why as Okavango Diamond Company we have contributed P150,000 to support this cause. Our support aims to reach over 500 individuals in the Mathathane, Molalatau, Bobonong, Tsetsebjwe, and Mogapi communities, demonstrating that with early detection and proactive measures, we can tackle these health challenges together. #OkavangoDiamondCompany #KKMotshidisiFoundation #CyclingForACause #NCDsAwareness #ProsperityForAll #Vision2036
