ARPA has entered into an agreement with BC Housing to lease the 142 Tranquille property for a 20-month period to facilitate the operation of a shelter and Community Access Hub. The ARPA team see the shelter and Community Access Hub as not “just a shelter” but a new concept being piloted in Kamloops which will include 24/7 on-site health services, counselling, showers, washroom facilities, referrals to housing, and much more. ARPA has entered into an agreement with BC Housing to lease the 142 Tranquille property for a 20-month period to facilitate the operation of a shelter and Community Access Hub. This will provide ARPA with time to design a new project for this site. “By leasing this space to BC Housing, we were able to ensure that the North Shore Business Improvement Association’s key principles for social service facilities for people who are unhoused were met, as well as other requirements we believe to be necessary to ensure a positive integration with the community. Monthly Updates on Thompson Landing on Royal Construction! On Royal One, suites are being prepared for painting, and all the suites on the fourth floor are being insulated, with the vapour barriers being taped to get them ready for the drywall process. Heat recovery systems, HVAC, and fencing are also being installed. In addition, landscaping is underway on the East and South sides and concrete has been poured for the driveway ramp into the parkade. Over on Royal Two, sprinklers, gas and electrical are being roughed in, and the scaffolding from Royal One is being relocated to this building. ASK Wellness Society and ARPA Investments commemorate their collaborative relationship, looking back on the development of The Stollery Suites. The project is an affordable residential housing facility on Kamloops’ North Shore that was built with the intention to complement The Colours on Spirit Square market housing, and the rest of the surrounding neighbourhood. ARPA was delighted to contribute to this collaboration as the developer and actively participated to help ASK Wellness Society establish a space that would welcome a diverse community.
