When Ali Pejman, FCPA, FCA and Kirsten Pejman's daughter was diagnosed with epilepsy at age 5, their world changed in an instant. However, they were fortunate to both find a medication that stopped her seizures, and that she outgrew her epilepsy. Their experience inspired them to advocate for other families facing this devastating diagnosis and have raised a remarkable $3 million for BC Children's Hospital to advance research and care with both the Genomics Project and the Pejman & Friends Fellowships and Research Initiative. These funds have empowered Dr. Mary Connolly, Director of the Epilepsy Program at BC Children’s, and her team to develop a world-leading fellowship program and advance genetic testing capabilities—allowing for earlier diagnosis and tailored treatments for children. On Epilepsy Awareness Day, we honour Ali and Kirsten Pejman and their incredible community for their commitment to improving epilepsy care. Together, we will continue to transform the lives of children and families who face the toughest cases of epilepsy.

This month, the team came together to celebrate the incredible impact of the BC Children’s Hospital Centre for Mindfulness—helping patients navigate challenges, providing staff with moments of calm, and inspiring research on the role of mindfulness in health care. Through thoughtful artwork and uplifting messages, hospital spaces are being transformed into reminders to pause, reflect, and recharge. Thanks to the incredible teams at the centre and the generosity of donors, this support is shaping a mindful hospital—one that will create lasting ripples of compassion for generations to come.

We were so excited to gather together to celebrate an incredible $3 million gift from the Canucks for Kids Fund. This game-changing donation is advancing critical diabetes research and launching programs focused on improving child and youth mental health and well-being in schools. Through the BC Children’s Health Promotion and Health Literacy team, it will help 15 school districts across BC implement mental health and wellness initiatives—creating lasting change for generations to come. Leading up to this event, we had a couple of very special visitors: FIN and Brock Boeser. They spent some unforgettable moments with some of their biggest fans at BC Children’s Hospital, bringing joy and inspiration to all. The Canucks for Kids Fund’s dedication to every aspect of a child’s health reflects their deep commitment to helping kids reach their full potential. We’re so grateful for their ongoing partnership and incredible determination in advancing children’s health.

These incredible individuals bring comfort, play, and emotional support to children and families facing healthcare challenges.
