About us

Black Creek Community Farm is situated on a truly unique eight-acre property that includes pristine farmland, a heritage farmhouse and barn, and a surrounding forest that extends down into the Black Creek ravine. All of this is located within easy walking distance of eight schools and thousands of local residents in one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods in Canada’s largest city. The site houses certified organic vegetable fields, a forest trail and food forest, 4-season greenhouses, an outdoor classroom, pavilion and bake oven, as well as a mushroom garden, chickens and beehives. Restoration and conservation activities is in progress to enhance the roughly 15,000 square metre u-shaped woodland which surrounds the farm fields on the west side along a busy Toronto artery (Jane St), along the south end bordering a vibrant community housing development, and up the east side at the top of a ravine descending to the Black Creek and separating BCCF from the Black Creek Pioneer Village and York University.

  • 🧡 This Thanksgiving, we need your help 🧡 According to Food Banks Canada, almost 1 in 4 people in Canada are now facing food insecurity. In just one month, over 1.9 million visits were made to food banks—a 35% increase from last year. And more than 50% of families are worried they won’t have enough to eat. At Black Creek Community Farm, we are committed to growing nutritious, organic produce and making it accessible to our community. But to continue serving the families who rely on us, we need your support. Every donation counts. Donations over $10 will receive a tax receipt, and by becoming a monthly donor, you help us provide fresh food for families all year round. To donate, please click on the link below: https://lnkd.in/gJidMskS This Thanksgiving, let’s come together to fight food insecurity. 💚 #DonateToday #FightHunger #BCCF #FoodInsecurity #ThanksgivingGiving #SupportLocal #FeedOurCommunity #BlackCreekCommunityFarm

  • Hello, today the farm will be closed to the public in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We encourage everyone to reserve space on Monday to learn, understand, honor, and familiarize themselves with the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. If you haven't yet, we encourage you to take some time to read The Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls' Calls to Justice, and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as well as to engage with events centered on Truth and Reconciliation.

  • Faces of BCCF - Christal Williams! Our placement student Christal details her experience at the farm. "Being flexible with expectations can help you detach from the outcome in anything you do, ensuring a positive experience. I love seeing the community benefit from fruitful land. I am amazed every time tiny seedlings grow to become fruit-bearing plants." Check out the full post on our blog! https://lnkd.in/gBMvChU6
