Grateful to have Rhonda Barnet and Wendy Baker from Palette Skills visit us in Charlottetown earlier this week! It was a pleasure showcasing our facilities and introducing them to the Elevate students, who are hard at work in the lab. It is thanks to the support from Palette Skills and the Government of Canada that we are able to offer the Elevate program and open doors to rewarding careers in the biomanufacturing sector. #CASTLElevate #paletteskills #CASTLCharlottetown Prince Edward Island BioAlliance adMare BioInnovations
Beautiful day in Charlottetown, October 21, meeting with our partners at CASTL - Canadian Alliance for Skills and Training in Life Sciences and co-hosting a very informative roundtable with key stakeholders to talk about skills development needs in PEI. Thanks to Penny Walsh-McGuire for co-hosting and acting as moderator. Having the chance to meet the new cohort of their Elevate program on their first day of in person training and hearing what led them to this upskilling program was fantastic! On graduation, these students will be ready for the job market with the most up-to-date skills. We also got to meet Scout, a robot designed to detect diseases in potato crops. This technology, guided by AI, will transform potato farming. Great work done by Professor Aitazaz A Farooque, PhD, P.Eng and his graduate students at the Canadian Centre for Climate Change and Adaptation. Thanks to Mary Hunter from SkillsPEI, Sandy MacDonald Holland College, Rory Francis and Erin Cooke from PEI BioAlliance, Sam Sanderson from the Construction Association of PEI, Laurie Loane from the PEI Agriculture Sector Council, and Justin Moores from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories
