  • We’re excited to announce a significant milestone for our community! Today, Dow announced a generous investment of $6.8 million CAD for the City of Fort Saskatchewan, and additional contributions to other key groups in our area. Their investment will help fund the design and construction of our highly anticipated new aquatics facility and expand the City’s Access for Everyone program, ensuring that residents can enjoy recreational and cultural opportunities regardless of their financial circumstances. This remarkable gift helps create a space for fitness, fun, and community connection. It also reduces the debt associated with the new aquatics facility project, easing the tax burden on our residents. For over 60 years, Dow has been an outstanding partner to our community, and it’s inspiring to see their continued dedication. We are immensely proud that Dow has chosen to expand right here in Fort Saskatchewan, and we’re grateful for their investments and partnerships that bring lasting benefits to our residents and neighbours. Learn more about their contributions here: https://lnkd.in/g7bVD7Xv

Linde's facility will also supply clean hydrogen to existing and new industrial customers seeking to decarbonize their operations. In total, the complex will capture more than 2 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year for sequestration. Linde is playing a key role in the clean energy transition and is actively helping its customers to decarbonize their operations. We appreciate the support of the Province of Alberta (Government of Alberta) and the Government of Canada in advancing the clean hydrogen economy. #LindeIsEverywhere #Decarbonization #CleanHydrogen

Today, members of the City of Fort Saskatchewan Council and administration had the privilege of touring Nutrien’s Fort Saskatchewan facility, where an impressive reclamation and afforestation project is underway. This innovative initiative transforms old phosphogypsum piles—a byproduct of the phosphate fertilizer industry—into flourishing forests. These new forests not only enhance groundwater and soil quality but also attract wildlife like deer, moose, elk, and various bird species back to the area. To date, over 45,000 trees have been planted across 20 hectares of phosphogypsum. On June 5, 2023, in collaboration with Project Forest and Trees for Life, the site launched an ambitious expansion—adding 26,000 hybrid poplar trees across 17 hectares. These trees, primarily hybrid poplars with underplanted white spruce, are vital for building a resilient and diverse forest ecosystem. The forest featured in the photo was planted in 2015, showcasing Nutrien’s long-term commitment to sustainability. 🌳 Nutrien, a global leader in crop inputs and services, operates this Nitrogen facility in Fort Saskatchewan, producing ammonia and urea.
