Meet Brenda McAllister from Williams Lake, BC. As a person who is Deafblind, intervenor services have given her the freedom to live life on her terms—staying active in her community, attending appointments, and connecting with friends and family. These services empower people like Brenda to live independently, stay connected, and thrive. But these vital services are now at risk in B.C. Without a commitment to sustainable funding, the support that makes independence possible for so many could disappear. With the BC Provincial Election underway, we have a critical window to ensure that all party leaders and candidates commit to funding these life-saving services. This is our chance to secure a permanent home for Deafblind services in BC! If you’re in BC, visit https://lnkd.in/eixurFPa and send a letter to your local MLA. It only takes two minutes, and we need your voice now more than ever to create long-lasting change. #DeafblindIndependence #TakeAction #SustainableFunding #IntervenorSupport #Advocacy #Deafblind #Inclusion CNIB

The Arthur Napier Magill Award is presented annually to a recipient whose work with people with sight loss is exemplary. This prestigious award is CNIB's highest public honour, given to recognize our passionate and dedicated volunteers. We are pleased to share that last week, this prestigious award was presented to Ron Kruzeniski in Regina. Over three decades of service to the community, Ronald J. Kruzeniski has made remarkable contributions to the blind and low vision community. His exceptional mentorship and unwavering advocacy stand as a testament to his deeply personal commitment to the community. With degrees in Administration and Law, he has held key roles in the legal field, including Chief Commissioner of the Human Rights Commission. Through his many years of service in a wide variety of roles, including Chair of the Board of Directors, Ron has played a critical role in the development of many of CNIB’s programs, including Come to Work, Phone it Forward and CNIB Guide Dogs. Most recently, Ron played a key role in helping to raise millions in support of the expansion and growth of the CNIB Guide Dogs Program. Alongside his work in support of CNIB programs, Ron’s strong advocacy in support of our previous strategic plan, The Path to Change, was critical for establishing government funded vision rehabilitation services in Canada. Thank you, Ron, for your deep personal commitment to our community and for inspiring us all to strive for a more inclusive and accessible world! Your passion and dedication truly embody the spirit of this award. #ArthurNapierMagillAward #CNIB #CommunityChampion #InclusionMatters Image description: Ron and his wife, Yvonne stand beside CNIB's President and CEO, Angela Bonfanti and John Magill while holding up the Magill Award and Citation.

As Guide Dog Access Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re reminded of the important role that guide dogs play in fostering independence for their handlers and helping people who are blind, Deafblind, or who have low vision live the lives they choose. 🦮 Did you know that the journey to becoming a guide dog starts early with the help of puppy raisers? These volunteers open their hearts and homes to nurture a pup through their early months and prepare them to become a partner in mobility for someone who is blind. Consider becoming a puppy raiser. Your love and care can help shape a future guide dog and change people’s lives. Visit cnib.ca/puppyraising to learn more about how you can get involved and volunteer with CNIB Guide Dogs [Image description: A smiling woman holds a young yellow puppy. To the left of the woman and puppy, is the text: “Help raise a future guide dog!” Above the text, is the CNIB Guide Dogs logo.] #GuideDogs #PuppyRaiser #VolunteerOpportunity
