An estimated 8 million people in the 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 #GreatLakes basin rely on groundwater for drinking water, even more across the broader Great Lakes region. Nitrate, a main well water pollutant in rural areas, is increasing across the Great Lakes states because of chemical fertilizers, animal waste, and human sewage seeping into our groundwater and watercourses, leaving households without drinkable water.
