Building a community of inclusion where people living with intellectual disabilities are valued and supported.
About us
DASCH is a non-profit organization established in 1974 dedicated to building and inspiring a community of inclusion where people with intellectual disabilities are valued and enabled to live to their full potential. Our mission is to provide meaningful residential, vocational and leisure programs within the community to persons with intellectual disabilities by fulfilling their individual, physical, emotional, social and educational needs. DASCH supports people from ages 8 to 74 within over 58 homes throughout Winnipeg. People can participate in personalized social, educational, vocational and recreational services that provide learning opportunities and greater independence. Since the movement from institutionalization to community living evolved, DASCH have made large strides in empowering an otherwise historically overlooked population of our society. DASCH is truly committed to enhancing and uplifting the lives of the people it supports through education, awareness, understanding and the highest degree of respect for all.

This November for Indigenous Disability Awareness Month we honour and celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of Indigenous people with disabilities and bring awareness to the barriers they face. It's essential to recognize the intersectionality of their experiences as they navigate the challenges of disability and the impacts of systemic inequities. Read a story by Melanie Marsden shared through the Rick Hansen Foundation about her experiences as an Indigenous woman with a disability: https://lnkd.in/gzMixcud #IDAM #IndigenousDisabilityAwarenessMonth #InclusiveCommunity #InclusionMatters #Intersectionality

The journey that DASCHWorks participants go through is always so amazing to witness. It takes a lot of self confidence and determination to excel and the folks we support never fail to wow us with their skills! We visited Denis at work for another edition of #TakeYoutMLA2WorkDay with MLA Jim Maloway to learn all about his role as a warehouse labourer with Reliable OHD, a division of Allmar Inc., where he keeps the warehouse organized, monitors inventory, helps receive and fill orders and more! Denis is doing so well in his position that the team at Reliable OHD can’t wait to welcome another DASCHworks participant into the warehouse! Learn more about becoming an employment partner like Reliable OHD: https://lnkd.in/gJdMTWBg #InclusiveHiring #DisabilityEmployment #DEAM #DisabilityEmploymentAwarenessMonth #NDEAM
