Another day, another event! I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the Boutique Experience Evening hosted by Dress for Success Toronto recently. As a member of the BIPOC women youth cohort, I've been fortunate to participate in various enriching workshops over the past few months, including resume writing, style craft, handling finances, and women's health in the workplace. This session was particularly memorable, featuring three segments: writing a letter to our future selves, crafting an impactful cover letter, and my favorite part—the boutique experience, where I got to select an entire outfit from a curated selection. Did you know it takes only seven seconds to form a first impression? Dressing appropriately can significantly influence how others perceive your professionalism and competence. A heartfelt thank you to Joya Mukherjee and Tahiyat Islam, HBSc., for organizing this event, and to Tawny Barratt for her invaluable assistance on the boutique floor. I also want to extend my gratitude to Kirsten Eastwood Iona Frost, Tanvi Joshi, Gisela Briceno, MEd for their time and contributions! #Linkedin #networking #firstimpressions #dressforsuccess

Relationship Manager, Business Markets at RBC

On last Thursday, my colleague May Wen and I had the honor of organizing a volunteer event for TNE Business Markets with Dress For Success Toronto. An unforgettable three hour shift well spent with TNE teammates for a meaningful cause. We are proud to have secured support from the RBC Communities Together Fund for this event, contributing to a cause that is truly impactful. We were thrilled to be part of this wonderful experience and to support the Youth Employment Summit project, which helps young women aged 18-29 uncover and address their unique needs and challenges in the workforce. We were also honored to meet the organization’s director, Iona Frost, and listen to her unforgettable presentation. She shared that this year marks the fifteenth anniversary of Dress For Success Toronto, making our volunteer experience even more special. Additionally, boutique coordinator Nikkie Jessen was instrumental in helping us complete our tasks smoothly. Our main responsibilities included sorting donated clothing, taking inventory, and organizing categories of shoes, coats, and dresses. All of these items are used to help women find their career path or re-enter the workforce. It was inspiring to see the impact of our efforts firsthand. A quote that inspired me deeply was from the DFS organization’s wall: “Confidence is your best accessory.” This truly encapsulates the spirit of the organization and the work we were there to support. I’m grateful for the opportunity to volunteer with such a dedicated and passionate group of colleagues. We also want to extend our gratitude to the two YNC leaders Mo Chen, MBA and Rosaria Kim who joined us for this volunteer event. Special thank you to our leader Jane (Yin) Song, CPA, MBA for her leadership and unwavering support to our team like always. This experience has not only strengthened our team spirit but also reminded us of the power of collective effort. Let’s go team TNE and let's continue to make a positive difference, one step at a time : ) Eric Turner Michael Gray Andrew Lee YUEJIN(ALVIN) QIAN David Kim Ehsan Dashti Annie (Yue) Xu Grace Dong Fang He Solomon Iwegim Vicky Law Shan Nithianandan @Hailey_Liang

Over the last few weeks, I have been very privileged to be part of two wonderful events! The first was the annual client facing event Mastering Your Job Search, led by my manager Joya Mukherjee at Dress for Success Toronto. The other event was an in-depth three day Grassroots Activist Leader training program led by the English speaking section of Amnesty International Canada in Ottawa. Given the often asked for pre-requisite of "Canadian experience", it had been a long road and over 6 months of applying and reaching out to various organizations as an immigrant with international experience before I was able to connect with both these organizations and begin working and volunteering with them respectively. I am now in a position where I am lucky to be mentored by strong women leaders, engage in work that is meaningful to me and aligned with my personal values. Both these organizations see the value in diverse lived experiences, individual merit and what people bring to the table with their skills, regardless of where they come from. I am grateful to be part of a work culture that leans into diverse perspectives, recognizes transferable skills and acts on their mission of supporting and advocating for folks, whether it is our clients, volunteers or staff 👏🏼👏🏼
