Through Coming Out Together, Egale Canada is encouraging everyone to take part in National Coming Out Day (Oct 11) and #ComeOutTogether as an affirming adult for 2SLGBTQI young people. As anti-2SLGBTQI hate continues to rise in Canada and around the world, it can feel quite scary for queer and trans youth to want to come out this National Coming Out Day. This is why adults making the effort to create safer spaces for the 2SLGBTQI young people in their lives is more important than ever. Learn more and take the pledge today at egale.ca/ComeOutTogether

We're delighted and very thankful for the support and generosity from Restaurant Lucie and hosts Chad R., Yannick Bigourdan, Yoann Beaubouchez, and Chef Arnaud Bloquel on a very successful fundraiser in support of our work here at Egale Canada while celebrating National Coming Out Day. These critical funds will support our mission of improving the lives of 2SLGBTQI people in Canada and enhancing the global response to 2SLGBTQI issues.

Coming Out Together is about encouraging adults to ‘come out’ as supportive, affirming and safe people in the lives of 2SLGBTQI youth. We call on everyone to do three simple tasks: Pledge, Attend, and Learn. Taking the pledge to #ComeOutTogether as an affirming adult means taking concrete actions to foster safer spaces for 2SLGBTQI youth. Learn how at egale.ca/ComeOutTogether

With the climate of rising anti-2SLGBTQI hate, having a safe and affirming adult in their life is crucial for the mental health and well-being of 2SLGBTQI youth. In light of this, Egale Canada invites you to take the pledge to #ComeOutTogether as an affirming adult and to take concrete actions to foster safer spaces for 2SLGBTQI youth in your life and the larger community. On October 6, 2024, Egale Canada had the privilege of being invited to participate in the Group of Seven (G7) dialogue in Italy, Matera, alongside other distinguished representatives of the Pride7 (P7) civil society affinity group. Together, attendees engaged in critical conversations addressing the rollback of women's and girls' rights, including championing the full protections and equality of LGBTQIA+ individuals and families around the world. Egale Canada’s Executive Director Helen Kennedy is hopeful that Canada’s upcoming Presidency of the G7 next year will provide an expanded opportunity to engage the P7 and LGBTQI+ civil society across the seven countries.
