Celebrating International Day of the Girl, it's our pleasure to spotlight Shruti Surwade, a shining example of growth and ambition at EllisDon. Starting as a co-op student, Shruti's journey exemplifies our strides in the construction industry. While we recognize that the quest for human rights and gender equality is a continual effort, we firmly believe that with robust support, resources, and opportunities, the potential of young girls is limitless. Congratulations to our team in Edmonton, Alberta, for being awarded the 2024 Infrastructure Minister’s Award for Innovation in Equality for the Edmonton Government Plaza Rejuvenation Project. This project features an extensive re-design of the outdoor space at the Legislature Building grounds and incorporates a new reflecting pool, fountains and connected terrace pools. The project immensely focused on creating barrier-free spaces to ensure wheelchair accessibility, using durable and timeless materials, and salvaging existing site materials to reuse them in the new design where possible. Phase 1 of the project, which included the reflecting pool, was completed on time and opened to the public on Canada Day this year. Phase 2 of the project will see construction completion in Spring 2025. Congratulations to the project team, alongside GEC Architects, for this fantastic win! Thank you to our Client, Alberta Infrastructure, for giving us this fantastic opportunity. Chris Lane Barry Murphy Sam Azooz David McFarlane For more, visit https://shorturl.at/7CzcE

We’re on a journey to net zero! This means constructing more climate-friendly buildings and finding new, sustainable ways to be more carbon-conscious. Enter: Hybrid Power Solutions. EllisDon’s Sustainable Building Solutions (SBS) and Ottawa team have been working with Hybrid Power Solutions to procure Hybrid Generators to power some of our construction infrastructure on site. The generator “Spark” consists of a 24-kW battery connected to a 12x340-Watt solar panel, which charges the battery and powers the infrastructure. Our Ottawa & Quebec project members came together to break a sweat! 😅 Over 60 colleagues participated in the Canada Army Run with a 5km, 10 or even 21km race. The teams raised funds for two organizations, Support Our Troops and Soldier On, which aims to empower ill and injured members to start their road to recovery and rehabilitation. A massive congrats to the Wellness Committee for organizing!! https://shorturl.at/CLvjN

Today is recognized as National Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – a day that holds meaning for all of us here in Canada, especially as we continue to learn and grow in our understanding of our country's history with Indigenous Peoples. It is an opportunity for us to reflect on and acknowledge the painful history and ongoing legacy of residential schools. It's a time to honour the lost children and Survivors of these schools, their families, and communities. At EllisDon, we are committed to learning, listening, and growing in the spirit of reconciliation. https://shorturl.at/jufE5 Tom Howell Jennifer Khan , B.A, CMP Gagan Sharma, MA
