Today, October 4th, we honor the lives of the countless Indigenous women and girls who have been murdered or gone missing. Their stories deserve to be heard, their families deserve justice. Let's commit to taking action to end this systemic violence. #MemberMonday: O'Chiese First Nation O'Chiese First Nation has been a proud member of FNFA since February 2017. This vibrant Saulteaux and Ojibwe community, located in western Alberta, is committed to economic self-sufficiency and cultural preservation. In 2009, O'Chiese established the O'Chiese Business and Investment Centre with the vision of creating good jobs for their community. A key milestone was the acquisition of the Jackpot Casino in 2017, followed by the purchase of the Red Deer Resort and Casino in 2020. Facing challenges at the Jackpot Casino's current location, O'Chiese sought to relocate the casino to their existing hotelbringing numerous benefits to the community, including increased parking, safety, and economic opportunities. FNFA's financing model fits every First Nation's needs if cash flow resources are available. #FNFA #FinancingYourFuture #FirstNations #Financing #IndigenousBusiness #EconomicDevelopment

The Fall Equinox, a time of balance and renewal, holds deep significance for many #Indigenous communities across Canada. Let's take this opportunity to reflect on the beauty and wisdom of our natural world, and to honor the traditions and teachings of Indigenous peoples. Gardens are giving their final gifts, leaves are falling, animals are changing colour, and the beautiful harvest moon provides extra light so we can prepare to move into a colder, restful season. It’s a season of preparation of what’s to come. As the leaves change color and the days grow shorter, let's remember the importance of truth and reconciliation. #FallEquinox reminds us why we recognize September 30th as #OrangeShirtDay, which has now been declared as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, as the time of year when Indigenous children were taken forcibly from their families to Residential Schools.
