This past Saturday, the BRIGHT run took place at Christie Lake Conservation Area. This incredible event surpassed their fundraising goal by over $150,000, and raised $570,528! We congratulate and thank all the participants, volunteers and the BRIGHT Run team for their remarkable fundraising efforts in support of breast cancer research at the Juravinski Cancer Centre.

Meet Areej: Our Illuminight Patient Ambassador 🌟 Shortly after welcoming her third child, Areej’s life took an unexpected turn with a sudden diagnosis of ovarian cancer. What started as severe abdominal pain led to emergency surgery in January 2023, followed by six rounds of intense chemotherapy. Now in remission, Areej continues to fight with maintenance therapy, determined to remain cancer-free. Through it all, Areej has been inspired by her family and the incredible care at Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre. Her strength also comes from her mother, a breast cancer survivor, and the compassionate support of her oncology team led by Dr. Nica. In October 2023, Areej turned her journey into action, raising over $7,000 for Illuminight. Her story is a testament to resilience and the power of community in the fight against cancer. Congratulations to MacKid, Cash, for winning the 2024 AFP Golden Horseshoe Outstanding Youth Award! Cash and his family began fundraising for Hamilton Health Sciences Foundation, in support of McMaster Children's Hospital, in 2015 through its signature event, MacKids Walk & Wheel. Over the past decade, Cash has raised $42,652! Notably in 2023, Cash brought in $18,232 and was the top fundraiser for MacKids Walk & Wheel! Additionally, Cash has volunteered his time, sharing his story of care inspiring many others in our community to make a meaningful difference.
