This program focuses on advancing nuclear research and development, including the deployment of Small Modular Reactors and next-generation reactor technologies.     The CNL Program is crucial for driving advancements in clean energy, environmental stewardship, and health sciences. By leveraging world-class laboratories and research capabilities at the Chalk River Laboratories campus, CNL is at the forefront of developing cutting-edge technologies and solutions. Meet Steven Hinton, a project manager for our project delivery group (PDG), based in our Brisbane, Australia, office. Since joining Hatch more than 18 years ago, Steve has been a voice for gender equity in the workplace, having been involved in initiatives such as the Gender Equity working group and facilitating sessions on gender bias. His colleagues say that he is the perfect example of a strong and dedicated ally in the space of diversity and inclusion, initiating positive change by leveraging his role as an associate to empower and support others at Hatch. Steve was one of the recipients of the 2024 Positive Change Awards, a global award that recognizes employees in Hatch who have contributed to our organization’s progress and who actively work towards strengthening our diverse teams. 📢 Hot off the press: BHP announced today that it has awarded a joint venture contract to Hatch and Fluor to perform engineering, procurement, and construction management (EPCM) for BHP’s Olympic Dam proposed smelter and refinery expansion project in South Australia.   The Hatch Fluor Joint Venture will provide the first stage of EPCM activity to lead overall strategy and planning through the project’s study phases. This phased strategy aims to achieve BHP’s stated objectives to increase production in South Australia to more than 500,000 tonnes of refined copper cathode by the early 2030s, and a strategy to deliver up to 650,000 tonnes from the mid-2030s.  Read more about this announcement: https://lnkd.in/dGvxC8dX #Metals #Copper #HatchNews #EngineeringExcellence

Our next #HatchBuildsProjects feature highlights the Cerro Matoso Smelter Expansion Project. From 1998 to 2001, we partnered with BHP Billiton Ltd to double Cerro Matoso's nickel production to 50,000 tons per year. We designed the world's largest ferronickel furnace and implemented cutting-edge technologies for dust recycling and slag disposal. Located in Montelibano, Colombia, Cerro Matoso is vital to the local community. Our innovative approach ensured no disruption to production while meeting World Bank emission standards.
