🗣️"For me, inclusion means actively embracing diversity and creating spaces where everyone feels valued, respected and has the same opportunities to contribute and participate in their community. To achieve this, everyone must purposefully remove the barriers and prejudices that exclude certain groups or individuals because of their differences.” This is Faith Njiru, HI #physiotherapist and project manager working in Dadaab refugee camp in #Kenya. Faith wanted to become a physiotherapist because the profession corresponded perfectly to her values: promoting #health and well-being. 📷 1+ 2: Faith has a therapy session with Mohamed, who suffered from stroke 10 years ago and has been receiving therapy twice a week at the HI center in Hagadera. He enjoys therapy sessions and prides himself with great improvement in his range of motions and mobility independence. 📷 3: Shamso, a 28-year-old lady with a below-knee amputation being assessed by Faith. Shamso is a beneficiary identified for #prosthesis fitting. Pour cela, chacun et chacune doit délibérément éliminer les barrières et les préjugés qui excluent certains groupes ou individus en raison de leurs différences. » Voici Faith Njiru, #kinésithérapeute et cheffe de projet chez HI dans le camp de réfugiés de Dadaab, au Kenya. Elle a souhaité devenir kiné car le métier correspond parfaitement à ses valeurs : promouvoir la #santé et le bien-être. 📷 1+ 2 : Faith a une séance de thérapie avec Mohamed, qui a subi un accident vasculaire cérébral il y a 10 ans et suit une thérapie deux fois par semaine au centre HI de Hagadera. Il apprécie les séances de thérapie et s'enorgueillit de voir s'améliorer l'amplitude de ses mouvements et de devenir plus indépendant dans sa mobilité. 📷 3 : Shamso, une femme de 28 ans, amputée au-dessous du genou, évaluée par Faith. It is with great honor and pride that we announce that the Honourable Lloyd Axworthy, PC, CC, OM, Ph.D. has joined Humanity & Inclusion Canada's Council of Governors. Hon. Axworthy is a leading figure on the Canadian political landscape after nearly 27 years in politics. He has been recognized nationally and internationally for his leadership and key role in some of the world's most significant political events, including the global struggles to ban landmines, the adoption of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the great debate over the Canada-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, and the creation of the International Criminal Court. As former Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Axworthy has always been a strong promoter of peace and an advocate for the protection of civilians in armed conflict. Handicap International - Humanity & Inclusion worked closely with him when the International Campaign to Ban Landmines was launched in 1992, and in the negotiation process that led to the signing of the Mine Ban Treaty, or Ottawa Treaty, 27 years ago.
