This #InternationalWomensDay, let’s stand for change. Each year, 12 million girls are married before 18. In Somalia, 45% of girls face child marriage, and 98% have undergone FGM/C. Through the “Challenging Harmful Attitudes and Norms for Gender Equality and Empowerment in Somalia” (CHANGES) Project, Save the Children and partners have worked to empower women, challenge harmful norms, and fight for gender equality in Somalia. This fall, staff from the programme in Somalia visited Canada to share how this work is making a difference. Change is possible—when we take action together. The pause in fighting in Gaza gave children a brief moment to begin recovering from war. Over six weeks, Save the Children provided lifesaving aid to 51,000 people-delivering food, winter clothing, and essential supplies to families in need. Now, that critical aid is being blocked, hostilities have resumed-children who were just starting to heal are once again facing unimaginable suffering. Denying aid and escalating violence is nothing short of a death sentence for Gaza's children. We must demand action.

From treating malnutrition to providing mental health support. This is how Save the Children is keeping children healthy around the world.

“It was a mess and no help or boat came to save us. So, I decided to save the baby first by putting her in a bucket and swam to the safest place of the village” Chan and her four children are one of the many families affected by the flash floods in Laos. Save the children has provided life saving services and essential supplies so mothers like Chan and her baby New, can thrive.

Over 590,000 children in Gaza are set to receive polio vaccinations in a crucial third round campaign. "This vaccination campaign is a crucial step, but it's not enough. Even during crisis, there’s hope. In Kharkiv, Ukraine, underground metro schools are helping children continue to learn despite missile strikes. Save the Children is working with local teachers to ensure education continues, no matter what.
