Today, on National Day for Truth & Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, we wear orange to honor and remember the survivors and victims of Canada's residential school system. This day serves as a powerful reminder of the deep and lasting impacts that the forced removal of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis children has had on generations of Indigenous families and communities. At Interfor, we are deeply committed to working alongside our Indigenous partners and confronting the painful truths of our shared history. Today, we reflect on the injustices suffered by Indigenous children, acknowledge the resilience of the survivors, and pay tribute to those who never returned home. We stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities and support the ongoing journey toward healing and reconciliation. To celebrate #NationalForestWeek, 7-year-old Joni beautifully illustrates the wildlife found in the forest, including a grey wolf native to the Pacific Northwest and BC Interior. As apex predators, grey wolves play a vital role in controlling deer, elk, and other prey populations, promoting healthy forest regeneration and supporting biodiversity. Their presence is essential to the balance of our forest ecosystems. Happy National Forest Week! #Interfor ---- Afin de célébrer la Semaine nationale de l’arbre et des forêts, Joni, 7 ans, illustre à merveille la faune et la flore de la forêt, y compris l’un des loups gris que l’on retrouve dans le Nord-Ouest du Pacifique et l'intérieur de la Colombie-Britannique. En tant que prédateurs au sommet de la chaîne alimentaire, les loups gris jouent un rôle essentiel dans le contrôle des populations de cerfs, de wapitis et d'autres proies, favorisant ainsi la régénération des forêts et la biodiversité.
