Our forests are vital to our survival in so many ways, which is why we work hard to protect them. Introducing our latest protocol under Canada’s Greenhouse Gas Offset Credit System—Improved Forest Management on Private Land. 🌲 This protocol gives foresters and Indigenous communities an opportunity to generate revenue from implementing voluntary forest management practices that will increase the amount of carbon stored in their forest lands. Did you know that Canada has 7% of the world's renewable #FreshWater? However, some regions in Canada may face water scarcity due to extensive usage in agriculture, industry, and households. Other regions are at risk of flooding due to high precipitation, snowmelt, and other drivers. The Canadian environmental sustainability indicators program provide information about surface water quantities in Canada, and changes over time. This information supports sustainable water resource management. How is this information collected? Water quantity in Canadian rivers is measured as water flow, or the volume of water moving over a point, over a fixed period of time.
