Though World Mental Health Day was last week, the need to continue the conversation has never been greater. Last year, Tom Budd, who recently sponsored the record breaking Heart of Gold Gala, established the Payton & Dillon Budd Brain Health Medical Fund which serves to advance brain health at Kelowna General Hospital. Tom, who has a deep personal connection to mental health as a result of the tragic loss of his sons, is committed to using philanthropy to transform brain health and mental health for those who need it most. By now you may have heard our exciting news. We're expanding! Originally built with 20 family rooms, the need has arisen to expand JoeAnna’s House. We are now ready to add 10 additional rooms to accommodate more guests, alleviate the constant waitlist, and keep more families together at JoeAnna’s House when they need it most. Because we are always better together. The house was fully built, and fully operates, by the hearts and hands of this generous community. Which is why we are once again seeking partners who love their community and want to do something extraordinary within it. The Request for Qualifications for Construction Management Services is now open. Visit https://lnkd.in/eh64r8JT to learn more and to view the project on BidCentral.

Last week, Lakehouse Home Interiors hosted their inaugural fall fundraising event Spirit of Hope, raising an incredible $25,784 to towards Parkinson’s care and research. The event, held at the historical Lakehouse Home Interiors building, brought together over 100 community members, event supporters, and fashion enthusiasts for a night of mingling, philanthropy and fun. Funds raised will support the Humphreys Family Movement Disorder Clinic at Kelowna General Hospital and will help transform care for more than 2,700 people living with Parkinson’s in the region. The evening featured a fashion show with runway presentations from Jigsaw Clothing, Kolu, Emmy Deveaux, Lily Blue, and Peplum Co. and was put on by Sue and Ben Boschman, owners of Lakehouse Home Interiors, and Lu Kapp, the creative spirit behind the event and Lakehouse Home Interiors Designer. Attendees also enjoyed cocktails and culinary magic from the Lakehouse Kitchens culinary team including Chef Travis Pye and Chef Bernard Casavant. Dr. Daryl Wile, founder of the Humphreys Family Movement Disorder Clinic, shared a few words highlighting the impact of the clinic and the role that philanthropy plays in bringing world class care close to home. The event was hosted by David Montpetit, with Kim and Anne Humphreys sharing their personal experiences with Parkinson’s as their father and husband, Barry Humphreys, is currently battling the disease. “We could not be more grateful to the Lakehouse Home Interiors team and all the Spirit of Hope attendees and supporters,” shares Allison Young, CEO of the KGH Foundation. “The generosity seen at this event will transform care for the growing number of individuals in our region with Parkinson’s and movement disorders. This event will support research, innovation, and care that will positively impact thousands of local families living with Parkinson’s for years to come.” Spirit of Hope was made possible through the generosity of local businesses, including Lakehouse Home Interiors, Lakehouse Kitchens, and many event donors and contributors. The Humphreys family also contributed to the event in support of KGH Foundation’s efforts to secure matching contributions towards their $1 million commitment for the Humphreys Family Movement Disorder Clinic. As Parkinson’s disease continues to grow in our region, Spirit of Hope raised awareness, critical funds, and most importantly, raised hope for the thousands of families in the region effected by the disease.
