🌼 Blossom wouldn't be here without LOI Venture... 🚨 I've seen a ton of alarming posts and charts about the state of entrepreneurship in Canada (shout out Jake Karls and Mitch Richardson for your great posts), with Jake's words hitting home for me: 🧱 "Early-stage funding is a brick wall. Risk seems to not be rewarded here. Investors want you to come back when your business is already de-risked." 😬 That was my experience too raising Blossom Social's pre-seed and seed round. ⭐️ The one exception? LOI Venture. 🔥 When everyone else in Canada said Blossom was too early - Ryan Holmes and Manny Padda took a chance on backing us - investing in us when Blossom had only 1,000 users and $0 in revenue. 🪦 Without this funding, I'm not sure if Blossom would still be alive. 📈 Now we've grown to over 220,000 users, are on track for $2.4M in revenue this year, and were named one of the Top 25 Apps of 2025 by Apple. 🙏 So rather than lamenting the state of Canadian entrepreneurship, I want to take a moment to give the deepest heartfelt appreciation to two legends who are actually making a difference. The Apple App Store has announced that Blossom Social is one of Apple's 25 Favorite Apps for 2025. This is huge. We are the only finance app to make the list, and stand shoulder to shoulder with ChatGPT, Duolingo, 1Password and Audible, so it is very high praise indeed! Blossom Social has been having a moment. We're seeing it in the community, the growth, the traffic and the attention we are beginning to receive. If you're on the app you can really feel the change, but behind the elegant interface and banging posts are thousands of decisions that the team obsess over to try and build the best social network for investors. The right content. The right audience. What we stand for. Blossom's mission empowering the world to make better financial decisions together. I think we're getting there; with 1 in 10 millennial investors in Canada now on Blossom, we've got the blueprint for success. The question last year was (rightly) would this work in other markets... specifically the USA. Last year, we proved that the answer was YES. Blossom is blowing up in the USA, and the same playbook the team perfected in Canada has worked. All of this is only possible because of ironclad retention, with a mind-boggling 30% of Blossom's downloads never leaving the app. Ever. This can only be possible with the incredible work of the team: Maxwell Nicholson for being totally product and community-obsessed. Kartik Bhutani and his team for building really, anything we can think of. Brandon Beavis for forging a community of the world's biggest finance creators and creating a profitable growth flywheel. Annika Ng looking after the Blossom community, our clients and helping it all come together. And, our amazing brand partners and clients for supporting and believing in us. This is still the beginning... We've got so much planned for 2025. With an audacious product roadmap. Bigger and better events. The launch of our SEO supercharged desktop app, and much, much more. As my 4-month internship at Blossom Social comes to an end, I want to take a moment to reflect on this incredible journey. Working with a team dedicated to reshaping how people approach investing has been an inspiring experience. I’ve learned so much about the industry, sharpened my skills, and gained invaluable insights into the world of social investing. I’m especially thankful to Annika Ng and Maxwell Nicholson for granting me this opportunity, and to Dorothy T., Tim Johnson, Brandon Beavis, Kartik Bhutani, and the rest of my colleagues at Blossom for their unwavering support and encouragement throughout my term. Their willingness to share their expertise and provide guidance has not only deepened my understanding but also helped me grow both personally and professionally. This internship has solidified my passion for the intersection of finance and technology. I’m excited to carry these lessons forward as I continue my university studies, and I look forward to seeing Blossom continue to grow and succeed.
