Today, the Northern Development Board of Directors announced that CEO Joel McKay will be leaving the Trust to take on the position of City Manager for the City of Quesnel. “It’s been an honour and a privilege to work for the Trust these past 12 years. The Trust gave me the opportunity to move to Northern B.C., put down roots and start a family. It’s been an incredible adventure. While I’m saddened to depart this organization, I’m extremely proud of the work we’ve accomplished here together. The Trust has an excellent team, Board, and regional advisors. I want to thank each one of them for their support and passion. Now, onto the next adventure.” Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/g86TystS

Last week, Northern Development and Local Government Management Association (LGMA) attended UBC Career Days to connect graduating students with local and First Nation government intern opportunities. Northern Development Initiative Trust's local and First Nation government internship program provides funding for host governments to hire a recent graduate for a 12-month internship. LGMA's program provides funding specific to local governments in B.C. with a population of 25,000 or less. Thanks to funding support from LGMA, Northern Development will be offering one additional paid intern placement in our service region in 2025, 2026 and 2027. Host governments are encouraged to reach out to learn more about the program or to apply. Northern Development program details: https://lnkd.in/gbKuMVEY LGMA program details: https://lnkd.in/g6VNjFJu
