From cheering on our athletes to enjoying live performances and exciting sport demos, it was a day full of energy, Olympic spirit, and eco-friendly vibes. “From alpine skiing to canoeing to ice hockey, there isn’t a sport in this country unaffected by climate change. Image a future where festivals and venues can be zero waste: "Sophie woke up buzzing with excitement. Today was the day of the much-anticipated Zero-Waste Festival. She packed her reusable water bottle, a cloth tote bag, and her digital ticket on her phone. Arriving at the festival, she was greeted by vibrant decorations made from upcycled materials. The entrance was flanked by solar-powered lights and wind turbines gently spinning in the breeze. Sophie first visited a water refill station, filling her bottle from the filtered station. As she wandered, she noticed all food stalls used compostable packaging or served meals on edible plates. She opted for a delicious vegan wrap, served with a biodegradable fork. Exploring further, Sophie found herself at a sustainability workshop. Enthusiastic speakers shared tips on living a zero-waste lifestyle, and she learned about composting and energy conservation. The festival app guided her effortlessly through the event, providing a map, schedule, and details on various activities. There were no paper programs in sight. Recycling and composting stations were everywhere, each with clear signage and friendly volunteers helping attendees sort their waste correctly. Sophie noticed an on-site composting facility, efficiently processing organic waste into rich compost. As the sun set, the festival grounds glowed with energy-efficient LED lights powered by solar panels. Sophie enjoyed the final concert. Leaving the festival, Sophie felt inspired and hopeful. The Zero-Waste Festival had shown her a glimpse of a sustainable future, where joy and responsibility coexisted harmoniously. She couldn’t wait to implement what she learned into her everyday life."
