This past spring, our partners at Modern Beauty Supplies dedicated their Beauty of Giving campaign to Susanne Jensen; a beloved colleague whose life was taken to soon by pancreatic cancer. We are elated to share that they raised $31,995 for Pancreatic Cancer Canada, in an effort to help raise pancreatic cancer survival rates. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity, and for reminding us that community support is always in style!

Every year, Nancy Hollyoak hosts a golf tournament in memory of her beloved Anthony to raise funds and awareness for pancreatic cancer. This year's third annual tournament was a resounding success, with over 200 guests joining to support our early detection research and patient & family support services. “The people at Pancreatic Cancer Canada have been instrumental in providing our family with knowledgeable, emotional and technical support,” says Nancy. We join her in thanking all the donors and participants for another impactful event and extend our sincere gratitude to the Hollyoak family for their continued advocacy for the world's toughest cancer.

“I remember when Anthony came downstairs one day and his skin was yellow,” said Nancy Hollyoak, whose husband’s jaundiced skin set off immediate red flags. “Despite feeling well, the signs were undeniable.” Soon after came the devastating news: a pancreatic cancer diagnosis, which led to his untimely passing in March 2022. While Anthony’s first symptom was obvious, the early signs of this disease can be vague and non-specific. It’s important to know what to look for and act urgently. Since losing her husband Anthony to pancreatic cancer, Nancy Hollyoak urges others to learn how to recognize the warning signs. "Early detection can mean the difference between life and death,” she explains, as later stages of this disease are notoriously difficult to treat. Though unlike breast cancer which can be detected via mammogram, pancreatic cancer still lacks a reliable screening test. This stark reality highlights the need for increased awareness and funding to develop early detection methods, which we are proud to invest in.
