This was so much fun yesterday. And the best thing that happened was catalyzed by the first question from @Raymond Kan from Planning Institute of British Columbia (PIBC). He asked if we were going to translate the design toolkit into other languages to broaden uptake and impact. We said we'd love to but didn't have the budget yet for it. I jokingly said to the 200+ people on the call 'if anyone has ideas to help us with this, let us know!' And then in very short order, we got offers to help with translation into French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Farsi and German! Now we just need someone (and some $) to project manage this mass translation 😀. If you missed the live webinar, the recording, slides and links to resources are now live in the shared post below. #affordablehousing #housing #design #architecture #urbanplanning #socialconnections #aginginplace #agefriendly #inclusive
On October 3rd, we hosted 'Design Tools to Support Wellbeing,' the fourth webinar in the 'Housing That Connects Us' series and part of our Building Social Connections project in partnership with Happy Cities and the SFU Department of Gerontology. This particular webinar focused on the "toolbox" of design ideas to support the goal of increasing sociability (and, therefore, neighbourliness!) in multi-unit housing, for both pre-existing and new builds. We were grateful to have over 200 participants join from all around the world, and the hour flew by with excellent discussion between HNC's Project Director Michelle Hoar, Happy Cities' Senior Housing Specialist Madeleine Hebert, and an incredibly engaged audience (our chat was busy!). 🐝 For those who may have missed the live event, or for anyone wanting to rewind the clock, the full webinar recap - including the Zoom recording and presenter slides - are now available on our website. https://lnkd.in/greBakKh #HousingThatConnectsUs #webinar #BuildingSocialConnections
