This new home will more than double RMHC Ottawa’s capacity, ensuring that families with seriously ill children have a warm, welcoming place to stay during challenging times. Project Spotlight: Modernizing DECIEM’s Manufacturing Facility Quasar’s Science & Technology sector recently played a key role in transforming DECIEM’s aging 120,000 sq. ft. manufacturing and packaging facility to meet modern GMP requirements for cosmetics compounding. 🟨 Upgraded HVAC & Controls: Designed to support new compounding, packaging, and raw product storage areas with project specific room air changes, temperature, humidity and pressurization control in accordance with the GMP requirements. 🟨 Phased Construction Approach: Ensured seamless day-to-day operations while modernizing the facility and associated HVAC equipment. 🟨 Safety & Compliance Enhancements: Integrated a new firefighting water containment system for the storage of flammable and combustible materials, wastewater treatment & filtration system serving the compounding area, and a hazardous material dispensing room with explosion prevention measures. 🟨 Manufacturing Process Piping & Support: Implemented a new high-pressure clean steam and clean compressed air system for key production equipment including kettle jackets, bottle fillers, and mixers which form an integral component to the GMP production of cosmetic. The new McMaster University greenhouse is the first building on campus to use geothermal heating and provides enough space for over 200 plant species from various climate zones. Over time, the university outgrew the original greenhouse and Life Sciences Building. Our Toronto construction team renovated the original 82,000 sq. ft. building, adding an 11,400 sq. ft. greenhouse expansion. We refreshed classrooms, study spaces, and added a new lobby with mass timber features. Now complete, the upgraded facility is expected to increase community engagement by adding recreational programming. Pratus Group is proud to spotlight our work on the LeBreton project at 665 Albert Street, Ottawa. This transformative development includes two mixed-use towers (36 and 31 storeys) featuring 608 rental units, 41% of which are affordable housing, and 25,800 ft² of non-residential space, including retail and a daycare center. Sustainability takes center stage with CAGBC Zero Carbon, One Planet, and LEED Gold targets, leveraging wastewater heat recovery and integrated photovoltaic panels. The Pratus team faced the challenge of integrating complex mechanical and electrical systems while ensuring seamless commissioning (Cx) and integrated systems testing (IST). We conducted thorough reviews of the Owner’s Project Requirements, schematic design documents, and collaborated closely with the design team to ensure alignment. Our proactive approach included developing detailed Cx plans and IST testing strategies, safeguarding the project timeline and key milestones. This project embodies innovation, sustainability, and precision, setting a benchmark for future developments. Brian F.
