The New St. Paul's Hospital and Medical Campus in Vancouver reached a major milestone this summer – it has officially topped out at 11 storeys! The campus is designed to serve the surrounding communities for generations to come. As the mechanical and electrical engineers for this project, this meant we had to plan for *potential* future scenarios (like rising temperatures and extreme weather). We hope they’re not needed, but increased cooling capacities, increased levels of ventilation, substantial back-up fuel capacity, and infrastructure that can integrate future technologies are all things we considered as part of our building system designs. Our approach to engineering starts with understanding the unique nuances and specialized requirements of a project. For the many healthcare facilities we have helped complete across Canada, this has resulted in tailored solutions that are both practical and sustainable. With more than 130 staff in British Columbia, we’re providing mechanical, electrical, intelligent integrated systems, and security services for the project. This facility will serve as a healthcare centre for young people living with complex, chronic conditions.
