Happy International Day of Forests! 🌲 In celebration of the International Day of Forests, we were thrilled to welcome Daniel Beausoleil, Restoration Programs Coordinator with Forests Canada. Daniel’s presentation covered a range of topics, including tree planting and wildlife habitat initiatives, seed production, the importance of biodiversity in planted forest ecosystems and the impact of Forests Canada’s forestry restoration efforts. At Smith + Andersen, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do—even how we rock! Our benefit rock concert, Eco Jam, has been raising funds to support Forests Canada since its inauguration in 2013. In December 2019, Smith + Andersen installed a CO2-reducing air scrubber in our new Toronto office, marking the first use of this technology in a Canadian commercial building. Now, more than five years later, we continue to benefit from the significant energy cost savings, reduced pollution, and enhanced air quality provided by the scrubber while allowing us to test one of the new technologies we were exploring for our clients firsthand.
