We are excited to witness the progression of the Darlington New Nuclear Project (DNNP) as Ontario and Canada get closer to constructing it's first SMR unit at the Darlington site. The total output of all 4 SMRs from the Darlington New Nuclear Project would be 1,200 megawatts; enough electricity to safely power about 1.2 million homes, and help our communities meet increasing energy demands. With the upcoming 2-part public hearings happening in October 2024 and January 2025 that CNSC are conducting, Indigenous Nations and Communities and the public will have the opportunity to comment on OPG’s application for a license to construct a BWRX-300 reactor in the Municipality of Clarington. These hearings will support the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in assessing the viability of this project. Big things are coming in the Ontario Nuclear Industry! Safety comes first in the nuclear industry! 🧤⛑️🦺 We are proud to work with Ontario Power Generation and their high safety standards and protocols. Recently, we faced issues with breathing air lines in the plant. Thanks to Ontario Power Generation's immediate response and priority for safety, they quickly diagnosed the problem and provided alternate suit options for the team. When an unexpected challenge arose during the coring process, the entire team sprang into action. BWXT rapidly developed specialized tooling, while RJNC staff navigated the documentation front through the Non-Conformance Reporting process. We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest project at Énergie NB Power, supporting BWXT Canada Ltd in the replacement of a restriction orifice on a balancing line on the primary heat transport system. RJNC provided field engineering support to successfully complete this project on schedule, with safety and quality, with no rework or repairs - a significant outage achievement!
