Sadly, the hugely successful Fit for Nuclear programme, now no longer fits with the The University of Sheffield core R&D mission Graham Hart is just one of the thousand plus potential nuclear supply chain manufacturers who have benefited from this programme. At the end of June 2024, participating companies reported that the F4N programme has helped them win more than £2.16 billion worth of new contracts in nuclear and other sectors, creating or safeguarding 3,590 jobs, and leveraging over £65 million additional private investment. At the last Labour Party Conference, Sheffield’s VC Koen Lamberts with the help of communication specialists at PLMR, brilliantly promoted The University of Sheffield as the university of “economic growth.” In a March 2023 letter to the Labour National Policy Forum: Better jobs and better work programme The University of Sheffield wrote: “ The High Value Manufacturing Catapult, of which the AMRC and Nuclear AMRC are part, should be enabled to focus on supporting businesses to transform great ideas into valuable products and services by moving away from further extensive reviews of the network” A year later Koen Lamberts ordered the “change process” that will lead to closure of the Nuclear AMRC and the loss of scores of researchers who were “transformin great ideas” into high value added jobs. It remains unclear yet whether the High Value Manufacturing Catapult have agreed to the closure. After all , Innovate UK has pumped tens of millions of taxpayers’ money into the Nuclear AMRC and its sister organisation over the years, in addition to the £25 million Labour Party grandee Peter Mandelson released to build the centre a little over a decade ago. All of this happening at a time when it looks ever more likely that Treasury will open the door to small modular reactors …….and South Yorkshire could become the National Centre of Excellence for SMR manufacturing, agnostic of technology with a global market.
"Joining the F4N process was one of the best decisions we ever made." A decade ago, our #FitForNuclear programme set Graham Hart (Process Technology) Ltd on the road to a consistent record of 100 per cent on-time in-full delivery for its bespoke heat transfer products. Managing director Chris Hart and technical director Charles Byrne explain how they achieved and sustained their market-leading performance. https://lnkd.in/eyVnrzbK

There's a lot of talk about who will the EPP make coalitions with in the next EP. Our data reveals that, in general, EPP votes alongside the S&D (65%) more than with ECR (50%). However, there are specifics policy topics where EPP allied more with ECR than S&D. Among these: #pesticides , #NewGenomicTechniques, decarbonization of road transport, forest management, intellectual property rights #IPR in health, #nuclear energy and #ECB’s monetary policy. Awesome to see Kim McCann talking to the NIA #Nuclear New Build Group on the opportunity for #Nuclear to compete in the new #Hydrogen economy. Confirming PA Consulting’s view that we are living in a “Complex and Connected Energy System”. Key takeaways: 1) need to consider a role beyond baseload power to grid to a broader energy ecosystem integrator role 2) this requires new partnerships beyond the traditional #Nuclear supply chain. 3) needs an understanding of the techno-economics of all the integrated value chains 4) driving down LCOE through standardisation and on time/budget delivery but recognising the criticality of leveraging “system value” #Energytransition #Nuclear #Ingenuity Julianne Antrobus Connor Deehan Adam Gait David Sanders

This is the way to go. Truly green. No, or barely no footprint. No dead animals. No horizon wasting windmills. No dependance on cheap labor and unsustainable mining practices. Well done SaskPower European Union Energy Institute #sustainability #energytransition

I will save a snapshot here from the last VVER conference (in 2022, it still had its original name). The conference took place in the charming meander of the Vltava River at ÚJV Řež, a. s. (dříve Ústav jaderného výzkumu, a.s.). This year's conference is called 𝗣𝗪𝗥 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗲 and will be devoted to a wide range of issues related to the operation of power plants with pressurized water reactors. #PWRPrague #PWR #nuclearpower #nuclearenergy #nuclear #nuclearevents https://1url.cz/a1e0Z

HOT off the PRESS : The re-powering of Coal-fired Power Stations in Australia with Small Modular Reactors is very topical in our country right now. In our latest report, our technical director Tony Irwin dives deep into the facts of facilitating this energy transition. In short, re-using the existing infrastructure makes the best use of the assets and reduces costs but, more importantly, retains jobs and keeps the local community alive. #nuclearknowledge #smrs #netzeronuclear #advancedreactors #nuclearpower #nuclearelectricity #nem #auspol #energytransition #energysecurity #nuclear The Hon. Love seeing this project progress! Nuclear power can play a key role in decarbonization, energy security, base load power, in-province jobs, and long-term power price stability for Saskatchewan. But we'll have to build more than one! Back-of-the-napkin math based on skelectricity.info data (collected from SaskPower) shows that it'll take upwards of 8 SMRs to replace today's coal and gas fleet, and that assumes zero future demand growth - which is unlikely! #SkNuclear #Saskatchewan #electricity #nuclear

#Turkey is actually building a #NuclearPowerPlant and projecting another two... All of them using large reactors... But this is just the beginning, after the launch of the #AkkuyuNPP and the construction of two new #NPPs in #Sinop and #Thrace, #Turkey is willing to consider the #SmallNuclearReactors option to continue increassing the #NuclearRole on its #EnergyMix...
