On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we extend a heartfelt thank you to our National Partner, RBC and RBC Insurance, for supporting our wellness programs! 💙 Recently, families enjoyed some much-needed relaxation at our Manicure Pop-Up Spa, thanks to the amazing nail technicians from the Four Seasons. Another highlight to mention was August 15th's International Relaxation Day, where families participated in Coffee Talk, enjoying a calming watercolor painting activity and learning relaxing breathing techniques. What an incredible start to the school year at RMHC Toronto School! As we wrap up the first month, our students have already embarked on their first field trip to the aquarium! They participated in a captivating kelp talk and explored fascinating exhibits, with one student calling it “The best day ever!” 🐠💙 We also held our first school fair of the year. Students from kindergarten to grade 11 showcased their amazing projects on habitats, speech writing, space, programming, and chemistry to their Parents and siblings. Today, on #NationalDayofTruthandReconciliation, we take a moment to reflect, learn, and honour the experiences of Indigenous children, families, and communities. At RMHC Toronto, we are committed to listening, understanding, and contributing to the healing journey of those impacted by the history of residential schools in Canada. We acknowledge the deep and lasting harm caused by the residential school system and the importance of amplifying Indigenous voices. Today, and every day, we stand with Indigenous communities, renewing our commitment to reconciliation through meaningful action, education, and support for families. At RMHC Toronto, staff, families and volunteers can explore the suggested reading list for #OrangeShirtDay, curated by our Early Childhood Educator, Lish, which can be found in our library on the 4th floor of RMHC Toronto. We are also pleased to distribute Every Child Matters pins, ordered from The Silver Moccasin, a 100% Indigenous-owned business. As we celebrate 20 years of RMHC Toronto School, students like Alister continue to thrive, learn, form new friendships, and stay on track with their studies. Alister's dad, Alex, shares: "We always tell Alister that he’s so lucky to attend this unique school. Every month, the school hosts a fair where parents get to see what their kids have been learning and creating in the classroom. He’s keeping up with his peers and making great progress."
