The Scarborough Subway Extension will extend the TTC’s Line 2 nearly 8 kilometres farther into the heart of Scarborough.
About us
The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometres farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city. To deliver the Scarborough Subway Extension as quickly as possible, construction has been split into two contracts – an advanced tunneling contract that is already underway, and the stations, rail and systems (SRS) contract. The SRS contract is kicking off with a development phase before the construction phase begins, with Scarborough Transit Connect selected as the partner for the development phase. This consortium is made up of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc., and FCC Canada Ltd. Key Facts: Number of stations - Three Connections to other transit options - Up to six Three bus services - GO Transit, Durham Region Transit and TTC buses Route length - 7.8 km Ridership - 105,000 daily boardings Increase in transit use - 52,000 daily boarding by new users Improved access to transit - 38,000 more people within walking distance to transit Improved access to jobs - 34,000 more jobs within walking distance to transit Yearly reductions in greenhouse gas emissions - 10,000 tonnes

During Safety Week at STC, our Safety Team hosted events at our worksites and head office. Our theme was “Last Minute Changes. See It. Own It. Stop It.” We learned that any change from a plan increases the risk of a safety issue, and we discussed what we can all do to stay safe when changes inevitably occur. Thank you to our team members, parent companies, partners, and client for coming together to strengthen STC’s ongoing commitment to Safety.
