Developed by our friends at Ciência Viva in Lisbon, Portugal, this fun, interactive, and science-based exhibition is already making waves in Barcelona, Spain! 🇪🇸 Water: Unfiltered highlights the basic human right to clean water, inviting children and adults alike to explore the many facets of water availability and usage on our planet. Nature Exchange is a unique, permanently installed learning environment that invites visitors to discover nature’s knowledge and history through responsible collecting and trading. Here’s how it works: 1️⃣ Forage and find natural items. 2️⃣ Identify and inquire to learn more. 3️⃣ Trade your treasures. 4️⃣ Redeem or reserve your points. Science North first developed its flagship Nature Exchange for our Sudbury science centre, occupying the entire second floor. In 1999, it expanded to its first permanent installation at a remote location. Since then, the network has grown to 13 Nature Exchange locations throughout North America. The best part? Big news for Northern Ontario!   Science North was awarded $3.2M through the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to expand Dynamic Earth and train up to 35,000 youth over a five-year period to explore careers in mining and the skilled trades.   Thanks to the generous support from the Province of Ontario, this state-of-the-art facility will offer life-changing opportunities for youth and underserved populations to discover in-demand careers in mining and skilled trades. By partnering with industry leaders, we will enhance employers' capacity and build a talent pipeline that meets the mining industry's workforce needs today and into the future.   We are deeply grateful to Premier Ford and Minister David Piccini for this unprecedented support. This funding is truly transformational for Science North, Dynamic Earth, and the communities we serve. As an educational hub for earth sciences and mining, Science North understands the critical role the mining industry plays in driving economic prosperity across the region. We are uniquely positioned to connect with diverse audiences, including First Nation communities, to inspire curiosity and engagement with modern mining and critical minerals.   Thank you for believing in our vision and for investing in the future of Northern Ontario.
