What an incredible week at Spring CUE.org in Palm Springs with SMART Technologies and Lumio by SMART. I first met Christine Feenstra, CUE’s Executive Director, at ISTE over the summer, and it’s been such a joy working with her, Rae Fearing, M.S. and Paul Case on this amazing partnership. Shout out to Lindsay Huber for rocking it with all the coordinating! A huge thank you to everyone who attended my session — it was inspiring to collaborate with so many passionate educators, diving into student data and driving success (and thanks for giggling at all my driving puns)! Plus, it was so great to see my former teacher friend, Amy DeLair, MAT absolutely rocking it outside the classroom! Did you know? 🎉 Holi, the Hindu Festival of Colours, is a vibrant two-day celebration symbolizing the triumph of good over evil, divine love, and the renewal that comes with spring. With roots tracing back to the 4th century and deep ties to Hindu mythology, Holi is embraced not only in India and Nepal but also by communities worldwide, including at SMART headquarters in Canada! 🇨🇦 In India, where Holi is a national holiday, festivities begin the night before with Holika Dahan, when people gather around bonfires to mark the victory of light over darkness. The main celebration, Rangwali Holi, follows the next day, transforming streets, parks, and open spaces into a riot of colour. Friends, families, and neighbours joyfully throw brightly hued powders at one another, creating a dazzling spectacle of unity and festivity. Each colour carries its own significance: 🔴 Red represents love, passion, and the warmth of relationships. 🔵 Blue symbolizes courage, tranquility, and the strength of togetherness. 🟢 Green signifies growth, harmony, and the fresh beginnings of spring. 🟡 Yellow, linked to turmeric, embodies health, peace, and happiness, radiating optimism and joy. No Holi celebration is complete without indulging in traditional treats like gujiya, a sweet pastry filled with dried fruits and nuts, and thandai, a saffron-infused spiced drink that adds a delicious touch to the festivities. We celebrated both Holi and Pi day with sweet treats and colourful decor on Friday - thanks to everyone who joined in!
