Solex Thermal Science reposted this
The history of the heat pipe traces back more than century. More recently, the technology has continued to evolve thanks to ongoing developments in manufacturing methods, wick design and additional applications. A newly released edition of Heat Pipes: Theory, Design and Applications – the first update in more than 10 years – covers many of these recent advancements, along with updates on the theoretical background covered in previous editions. We sat down with co-author Hussam Jouhara FREng, Technical Director at Econotherm, to discuss the book, as well as get his insights into how it can help readers gain a sound understanding of the principles of heat pipe technology. #heatpipes #heatexchange #heatexchangers #wasteheat #wasteheatrecovery #hphe #decarbonisation #circulareconomy #heattransfer #UK #Wales Brunel University of London

It's been a great start to the week in Montreal, Quebec, Canada as Solex Thermal Science takes part in the 2024 Ammonium Nitrate and Nitric Acid (ANNA) conference. This year's event is bringing operators across the fertilizer supply chain together to discuss many of the hot-button issues currently impacting the industry — from safety and decarbonization to process optimization and the role of emerging technologies. Solex Chief Sales Officer Igor Makarenko is on hand during the week-long event where he is sharing details on how heat exchange technology is helping fertilizer producers meet their optimization and sustainability goals. There is no free pass for waste heat recovery projects — that's part of the message from Mark Boocock of Econotherm (UK) Ltd in this recent article. The other part of the message is there are several key factors that every industrial company should assess to ensure maximum ROI of their waste heat recovery projects, of which Mark covers in this fantastic must-read! #wasteheat #wasteheatrecovery #esg #sustainability #circulareconomy
As the focus on corporate environmental responsibility grows globally, more industrial companies are seeking ways to put their otherwise wasted heat to better use. While these companies generally share an ambition to do the right thing for the planet, such investments must, first and foremost, meet a certain business investment criterion. There is no free pass for waste heat recovery (WHR) projects, which must still compete with other deserving capital investment demands – of which there are invariably many. In this article by Professor Mark Boocock of Econotherm (UK) Ltd, we look at the key factors that every industrial company should assess to ensure maximum ROI, energy efficiency and sustainability gains. If you have questions, email us at enquiries@econotherm.co.uk. #econotherm #wasteheat #wasteheatrecovery #energyrecovery #industrial #eu #whr #heatpipes #heatexchange #heatexchangers #esg #sustainability #energycosts #energyprices

As fertilizer producers look to meet rising global demand for their products, the need for reliable and cost-efficient operations become even more crucial. Yet at the same time, the critical process-based solutions that create the backbone to these operations are frequently subjected to significant stresses such as handling abrasive and/or corrosive substances or operating under extreme operating conditions that lead to increased wear. With these challenges in mind, it is essential to keep process equipment in peak working condition, says Warren Chung, P.Eng. of Solex Thermal Science. In the September 2024 issue of World Fertilizer magazine, Chung argues it is not just a best practice but a necessity for fertilizer producers to implement robust preventative maintenance programs, as well as ensure installed solutions are operating at the designed conditions. "Take the final product cooling stage in the fertilizer production process as an example," he writes. "It represents one of the last opportunities to get it right ... It’s common to see highly engineered process solutions still operational decades later with minimal capital investment along the way. Yet this requires operators to execute disciplined operational practices and undertake regular preventative maintenance initiatives." In the article, Chung zeros in on moving bed heat exchange (MBHE) technology that's commonly used in many fertilizer operations worldwide. He examines the common mistakes that leads to premature failure with MBHEs, as well as offers tips on how to keep these solutions operating at peak performance. https://lnkd.in/gBrvUbBH #fertilizer #urea #npk #bulksolids #maintenance #serviceandsupport #worldfertilizer #tips #technology Mark Brouwer
