Electrifying news ⚡️ We are proud to share the arrival of eight electric, heavy-duty trucks to Sysco Victoria! 🚛🌍 This milestone propels us closer to our Sysco Corporation goal of reducing direct emissions by 27.5% by 2030. We are grateful for incredible partners like Freightliner Trucks and the public support of the Government of Canada, the Government of British Columbia, and BC Hydro. Thank you to The Honourable Minister Harjit S. Sajjan and MLA Ravi Parmar for joining us today and supporting our efforts to create positive change. Here’s how these vehicles are making a difference: 🔋 Zero Tailpipe Emissions: Our EV trucks produce zero tailpipe emissions, helping keep air cleaner and communities healthier. ⚡️ Energy Efficient: Powered by electricity these trucks are more energy-efficient than traditional diesel trucks. 💨 Enhanced Driving Experience: These trucks offer an amazingly smooth ride which our drivers appreciate. They also run quieter, creating less noise pollution in the neighborhoods we serve. Sysco has heavy-duty electric tractors in the United States, United Kingdom, Sweden and now Canada! On August 2nd, Indigenous Tourism Ontario presented the Odawa M’nis Master Chef Showdown, an Indigenous culinary competition in Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory on Manitoulin Island, Ontario! #SyscoOntario was proud to sponsor both the Amateur and Professional Chef editions of this black-box competition, which featured 10 local Indigenous cooks in teams of two, and five professional chefs from across the province in a battle against time – each creating a special dish made from surprise ingredients! Colleagues across our three #SyscoPrairies sites in Edmonton, Calgary, and Winnipeg organized BBQs to raise money for vital help needed by those affected by the Jasper wildfires.   We're incredibly proud to share that over 225 colleagues contributed and raised $7,663 for the #JasperCommunityFund and the Canadian Red Cross! Sysco Canada also donated $10,000 from the Nourishing Neighbours program bringing the total to a whopping $17,663! #SyscoCanada’s IMPACT colleague resource group (CRG) hosted their summer social event, In My IMPACT Era, for colleagues to connect in-person and virtually for some fun and networking! Over 40 colleagues across Canada made and swapped bracelets with each other as they reviewed #IMPACT’s initiatives over the last year, shared their personal enhancements to their professional development and tips that supported work/life balance. For the second year in a row, #SyscoWinnipeg has been recognized with Sysco’s global FY24 Volunteer Site of the Year Award! Sysco Winnipeg continues to lead by example, representing the #SyscoPurpose of connecting the world to share food and care for one another. In FY24, more than 100 Sysco Winnipeg colleagues volunteered 1,575 hours to combat hunger and support their communities.   As Carmen Singh, HR Vice President with #SyscoPrairies shares, “We are deeply touched and humbled by the countless hours this team has dedicated to various community causes, with more than half of colleagues participating and contributing volunteer hours over the past year. We believe true success is measured by the positive impact we have on the lives around us.
