As Summer comes to an end and I settle back into a busy academic schedule, I wanted to share some favourite memories of my professional life from the past several months
It began with a trip to St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, where I attended the Canadian Hydrographic Conference as part of a cohort of fellow BCIT students Lee Ratke and Jela Pena, led by Sean Galway. For this I would like to especially say thank you Sean, COMREN, and The Canadian Hydrographic Association for the opportunity. The experience enabled me to gain a much broader insight into the field of geomatics, as well as meet some new people along the way!
For the following weeks, I was able to gain valuable experience working at Binnie alongside their field surveyors as a survey assistant. During this time, I built my technical knowledge, as well as developed intuition, confidence, and problem solving approaches as it relates to land surveying. If you pay close attention to the pictures, you may notice I lost a little weight from considerable bushwork and pin-pounding, haha. Thank you, Roland Bircher, for introducing me to the company and giving me this opportunity.
