As our world becomes more and more divided and violence towards Queer communities increases, the need to build better coalitions is stronger than ever. On September 11th, The Enchanté Network released its Back to Our Roots report delving into the pressing need of establishing a National Black 2SLGBTQI+ Organization in Canada. Despite strides toward equality, Black 2SLGBTQI+ peoples and communities continue to navigate a labyrinth of barriers—each compounded by the intersectionality of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, queerphobia, and other forms of discrimination. NEW REPORT ALERT! We are launching a groundbreaking report today: The Back to Our Roots (B2R) report! This report delves into the pressing need to establish a National Black 2SLGBTQI+ Organization in Canada, which would address the unique intersectional challenges Black 2SLGBTQI+ peoples and communities face across various spheres of life. Read the report here: https://lnkd.in/ethdR6J5 In the B2R report, the Enchanté Network covers all of the work that’s been done since the start of the project. It culminates in a series of five data-backed recommendations to improve the lives of Black queer people in Canada. This includes the creation of a National Black 2SLGBTQI+ organization, supporting the existing programs and services that are offered, and providing more funding for research in addressing the knowledge gap on Black and queer communities living in Canada. Make sure to follow the B2R project, as this report is just the beginning! We know more data collection needs to be done, and we are ready for the task. We will continue to release more in-depth reports in the future. Share this report with your colleagues and partner organizations.
