Speaker, Author, Professor, Thought Partner on Human Capability (talent, leadership, organization, HR)
With the rising influence of GenAI, I recently posed a simple question to ChatGPT: "Write a 200-word essay on the future of HR." While its response captured many legacy HR themes we've discussed for years - from employee engagement to DEI - it highlighted something crucial: we need to move beyond recycling past ideas to create real impact for all stakeholders. The evolution of HR is fascinating. We've moved from a primarily employee-focused function to one that must deliver value across multiple stakeholders - executives, customers, investors, and communities. Through our Organization Guidance System (OGS) work, we're seeing how HR can create this broader impact through human capability investments in talent, organization, leadership, and HR operations. But what truly excites me is where we're headed. The future of HR isn't just about using GenAI to automate past practices - it's about leveraging technology to guide better decisions and create measurable stakeholder value. We're moving from accessing information to informing strategic choices that drive real business outcomes. I'd love to hear your thoughts: How do you see HR evolving in your organization? Are you still focused primarily on employee outcomes, or are you expanding your impact across all stakeholders? Let's explore how we can collectively shape the future of human capability.

Curious about how love can transform leadership? In the latest #HRchat episode, Bill Banham interviews Dr. Glenn Thomas, a self-described recovering bad leader, to share the Heartwork Leadership Framework. Drawing from his journey, Dr. Glenn illustrates how genuine care and effective communication can yield positive outcomes in the workplace and beyond. Explore the vital role of self-awareness in leadership as we consider why only 30-40% of leaders excel in this area and how it impacts workplace culture. Dr. Glenn guides us through the initial steps organizations must take to create environments where employees are excited to return each week. By acknowledging cultural shortcomings and fostering trust through love and support, says Dr. Glenn, leaders can inspire a sense of openness and accountability!
