Today marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We reflect and honour the children who never returned home, and the Survivors of residential schools. We also use today to honour the families and communities of the children and Survivors. Between 1867 and 1996, there were 140 federally-run residential schools across Canada. Survivors advocated for recognition and reparations and demanded accountability for the intergenerational impacts of harm caused.
