Shoutout to two exceptional members of the Trimac team! Lance Hagler, Trimac’s Senior Director of Safety and Chair of the National Tank Truck Carriers’ Safety and Security Council, demonstrated exceptional safety leadership in a moment of need, reminding us why safety is always at the heart of everything we do. We also want to recognize Dan Anderson, our Occupational Health and Safety Specialist, who delivered a noteworthy presentation at Tank Truck Week 2024, highlighting the critical importance of identifying occupational health risks and the correct use of personal protective equipment in tank cleaning operations. Thank you, Lance and Dan, for representing the very best of Trimac.

I want to give a quick shoutout to Trimac Transportation’s Lance Hagler, National Tank Truck Carriers’ outgoing Safety and Security Council national chair. We both live in the Houston area, so we’ve been on the same flight home several times now. Very cool, very sharp guy. Well, this time we were both at the back of the plane, and I was sleeping with headphones on, oblivious to everyone around me. When I awoke, he was helping a kid who fainted outside the bathroom stand up and find a seat, and suggesting possible causes and remedies to the concerned flight attendants. The kid ended up recovering, and I know Lance would say it was no big deal—I hope he’s not mad at me for posting this—but I was impressed. His actions exemplify the people I’m around every day while covering the tank truck industry. Safety truly doesn’t take a day off. Or even a minute. So, I’m nominating him for Airway Angel. 😆 BTW, Dan Anderson, an industrial hygienist with Trimac Transportation, delivered one of the most interesting presentations at Tank Truck Week after conducting a “Scientific Evaluation of Occupational Health Risks in Tank Cleaning Operations” at select National Tank Services locations. His goal was to identify the correct type of PPE needed for six chemicals, total VOCs, and noise when performing specific tank cleaning tasks—like opening the dome lid, checking for heel, draining it, and washing out and drying the tank—and convey that information to technicians quickly and easily. I will share highlights from that Tank Maintenance & Cleaning Council session and others in Bulk Transporter’s extended coverage of Tank Truck Week 2024 in coming weeks, both online and in our November/December print issue, so stay tuned, and please go subscribe to the print magazine and newsletter. They’re free—and your support helps ensure the industry’s oldest publication continues telling your stories for another 87 years.

President, Chief Executive Officer & Chief StoryEnabler at Heritage Park Historical Village

Heritage Park would like to pay tribute to Maurice McCaig, one of the most significant supporters in our 60-year history. We were very saddened to learn of his recent passing.    Maurice was a Life Member of Heritage Park, an exclusive, honorary distinction awarded to community leaders who have made extraordinary contributions over time. Over the past three decades, his generosity supported numerous programs that enabled Heritage Park to grow, including the "It’s About Time" campaign, which built the Gasoline Alley Museum, and the renewal of the six-acre Natural Resource Area, which opened in 2022. He was joined in his passion for Heritage Park by his wife Nicole, other members of the McCaig family, and the Trimac organization.   Maurice was instrumental in creating the special Trimac exhibition in Gasoline Alley. This exhibition highlights the transition from horse-drawn wagons to transport trucks in the Canadian Prairies during the 1930s, '40s, and '50s—a shift that revolutionized the region. This era fueled business growth by connecting rural communities to markets, reshaped social dynamics by changing family life and mobility, and influenced political landscapes by prompting infrastructure improvements and new regulations. This pivotal shift drove economic expansion and social change across the Prairies.   Among the many whose support has been critical to Heritage Park’s history, Maurice stood out as a leader among leaders. His impact on our community was profound, and he will be deeply missed. Maurice’s commitment to preserving history extended beyond his contributions to Heritage Park. He actively participated in the restoration and donation of vintage trucks to other museums and organizations dedicated to historical preservation, further cementing his legacy as a dedicated supporter of preserving Canada’s past.   Maurice McCaig’s legacy will endure, both at Heritage Park and throughout the wider community he loved so deeply.
