New research led by Dr. Tatyana Mollayeva and team at UHN's KITE Research Institute reveals three differences and key challenges faced by men and women recovering from traumatic brain injury (TBI) 👇 ➡️ The absence of a "graduated home plan" left individuals struggling with gendered roles and responsibilities at home. ➡️ Being overwhelmed at work, women felt like they couldn't meet occupational expectations, while men noted a reduced productive capacity. ➡️ Taking on the emotional toll of experiencing a TBI, women struggled with maintaining social activities, while men avoided them altogether. We are inspired by Patty De Guia's incredible recovery story. As a cancer, aneurysm, and stroke survivor she has worked tirelessly with occupational therapists at UHN's West Park Healthcare Centre to relearn day-to-day tasks and rediscover a passion for cooking. From relearning how to crack eggs to competing on a national baking competition show, Patty's journey is a remarkable example of the power of rehabilitation, one of UHN's centres of excellence. Keep going Patty! Watch her story here: https://bit.ly/3YBfeyS
