About us

The Vancouver Humane Society is a Canadian registered charity dedicated to the humane treatment of animals. We encourage individuals, organizations, and governments to take responsibility for the welfare and rights of domestic animals and wildlife influenced by human activities. Funding comes primarily from donations, and our activities are made possible primarily through the generous assistance of volunteers. Vision Statement: VHS envisions a future in which humanity recognizes and respects the inherent rights and needs of all animals – a society in which all animal cruelty is unacceptable and animal protection is valued and acted upon by the public and its policy makers. Goals 1. To conduct research and provide educational material and community outreach programs for the advancement of general knowledge and awareness of the need for fair, careful and humane treatment of animals 2. To disperse funds for animal protection, (including food and veterinary treatment for animals in need) 3. To research and disseminate materials to public and elected officials to assist them in development of legislation that would further the fair and humane treatment of animals Visit www.vancouverhumanesociety.bc.ca for news on current campaigns and issues. We welcome any donations/volunteer applications that can help us become more effective in our campaigns.
