Thank you for sharing this moment and your thoughts from this experience, Melanie Coulson.
Watch WestJet CEO Alexis von Hoensbroech introduce himself to us, tell us why he’s travelling to Ottawa to talk to Parliament about air travel, and invite us to find him in the 13th row of the aircraft to share our thoughts with him as passengers on this RED EYE flight to Ottawa. After this welcome, von Hoensbroech took a couple of quick pics with ground crew and attendants. This genuine, friendly and accessible behaviour from a CEO is right on brand for an airline that is marketing itself as the friendlier choice for travellers. It comes from the very top. (To note: I got a ‘how was your in-flight service?’ Email survey three mins after we landed 20 mins early in Ottawa.) #leadership #marketing #branding #airtravel #cdnpoli #aviationdayCanada

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we are honoured to be the official airline partner of the Canadian Cancer Society and the CIBC Run for the Cure. This month, WestJetters can proudly wear pink to show their support. Our scarves and ties are especially meaningful, featuring the names of those who have bravely faced breast cancer—submitted by WestJetters across our organization. Today, we acknowledge and honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day, a time to recognize the devastating impact of residential schools, remember the missing children and uplift the voices of survivors. Orange Shirt Society is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 by Phyllis Webstad to raise awareness of the lasting impacts of residential schools. The orange shirt is a symbol of the intergenerational impact of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous communities across Canada. Today, we encourage all Canadians to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools and remember that Every Child Matters. Learn more about how to support Orange Shirt Society on their page and about our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation on our NewsRoom. #TruthAndReconciliation #EveryChildMatters #OrangeShirtDay
